About Hannah Wood
Dev Handbook is created and maintained by Hannah Wood. I’m a front-end web developer and digital marketing specialist based in the UK, with several years of experience building websites, working on client projects, growing content sites, and writing code across a fairly wide stack.
This handbook is where I keep notes, reference snippets, and tutorials on the technologies I use most. If it’s useful to you too, that’s a bonus.
What I work on
My work sits across a few different areas.
Front-end development: I build UI components and interfaces using React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. I’ve worked with Material UI, Redux, and GraphQL in production codebases, and I’m comfortable in Agile environments doing code reviews, debugging, testing, and performance optimisation.
WordPress and freelance builds: I build and improve WordPress websites for clients: landing pages, content hubs, newsletters, and SEO-focused site structures. I mainly use Kadence and have also worked with Elementor.
Content websites: I run content sites covering travel and other niches, managing everything end-to-end: content strategy, UX, site structure, SEO, affiliate monetisation, and growth.
Why I created this handbook
I learn by writing things down. Dev Handbook started as a personal reference: somewhere to keep clean, practical notes on syntax, patterns, and concepts without digging through documentation every time.
Over time it grew into something more structured. The goal is that every section should be quick to scan, easy to use mid-project, and practical above everything else: actual code, not abstract theory.
My background
My skills span:
- Languages and frameworks: React, TypeScript, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML, CSS, PHP, Python, GraphQL
- Tools and libraries: Material UI, Redux, Gatsby, Contentful, REST APIs
- WordPress: Kadence, Elementor, custom builds, client site management
- Other: Responsive design, accessibility, SEO, content strategy, performance optimisation, Agile team collaboration
I’ve worked as a Frontend Engineer on team projects and as a freelancer on independent client work. Running my own content sites means I think about both the technical and the audience side of building for the web.
